Essay question - due in 12th April
"How far does the studio system limit technological and creative advancements in film?"
Discuss both UK films and US films - link to your case studies
You need to consider how the studio system e.g mass money money being in the power of a few has impacted the way in which technology/ creativity can be developed and used.
consider the fact the large amounts of money can encourage development of technology and allow creative ideas to be used - however it does mean the a limited number of film makers and studios have all the power and ability to be creative.
Do you think this has impacted on your case studies?
What problems do think independent film makers encounter in terms of creativity and the availability of technologies?
What evidence can you find that the studio system has helped to develop technologies or hindered creativity
